For programming to be successful, much like many other complicated professions, you need to build a specific skill set. While some of these abilities will come naturally, many others call for dedication and commitment.

Skills you need for coding are:

1. Problem-Solving

This is one of the most important soft skills for success in the programming and technology service industry. The basis of this work is solving problems by creating solutions that address the needs of various industries.

2. Abstract thinking

Code is not a physical thing that you can observe and measure, so you need to learn how to visualize it in a way that forms a coherent whole. You have to look at things from different angles and draw analytical conclusions from seemingly simple things.

3. Attention to Detail

It means you should have tips for keeping track of the semicolons, brackets, spacing, indentations and other small formatting details. These small things affect your code’s execution and would take you hours to debug and stress you down.

4. Coding Language

Coding language knowledge is a must for any coder. You cannot do anything that is related to coding without having one coding language (for example, JavaScript or Ruby on Rails).

5. Communication skills

Either the tech industry or non-tech areas require people who involve in any project best perform communication skills. Coder usually works in a team and also explains their work and terms to non-tech colleagues.

6. Understand machine stupidity

Common sense does not exist in computers. It might be very simple to forget that they are incapable of independent or creative thinking. You'll need to adopt a mentality that solely expects the machine to carry out your precise instructions.
