What should I wear for dance lessons?

We wanted to create a helpful guide so you would know what to wear for each session because there are so many different dance styles to pick from.

  • Ballet

Ballet attire should be reasonably form-fitting so your posture may be assessed. It's useful if you can see your ankles so you can check your foot placement. Given that the fabric is breathable, good yoga attire is ideal for ballet.

Shoes - comfortable ballet shoes for all levels of ballet classes. For the first few courses, you can wear socks, but you'll need something to give you some grip so you don't slip (yoga socks are best).

  • Jazz

Jazz attire that is pretty form-fitting is ideal so you can see your posture clearly. Anything that allows you to move freely is wonderful, even leggings.

Shoes: Jazz boots, jazz sneakers, or bare feet.

  • Tap

Fitness or casual clothing (skirts, dresses, jeans, etc.) are appropriate because most of the movement occurs from the knee down.

Tap shoes can be of any brand or design as long as they make you feel comfortable.

  • Belly Dance

Clothing for belly dancing should be form-fitting so that you can see how each body component is isolated. The decision to expose your stomach is entirely yours! A hip scarf for belly dancing is a fantastic addition to this particular dance look.

The finest footwear is bare feet, but if you'd rather wear flat ballerina pumps or socks with grip, go ahead.

  • Ballroom, Tango, Jive, and Salsa partner dances.

Jeans work great with any comfortable, move-friendly attire. These styles go nicely with dresses, blouses, or shirts, although they are not required.

Shoes: For women, high heels are preferred, but you can choose any height! The ideal heels have a flair. You can buy ballroom shoes with suede soles to aid in balance and turns.

Men can move more easily in flat shoes with smooth soles. These might be casual shoes, but the optimum footwear for these dance forms is dress shoes with laces.
