What is the difference between a GIF and an animated GIF

A GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) judging on the appearance is like a very short video that runs on a loop but has no sound or music. But actually, it is more like an animated image that can be very easily saved, stored, and to share on any social media platform.

A GIF is a general term to mention all types of GIF files that are made out of a video, or animated images. Meanwhile, an animated GIF is a term to specifically describe a GIF file made out of animated images only.

In order to create an Animated GIF, we need to cram a lot of images or frames into a single file for running on a loop. An animated GIF therefore often requires more time and effort to make and is also heavier than a GIF file.

Though it takes more time and effort to make, an animated GIF is more preferred by internet users and is in high demand than the normal GIF because of the flexibility in context, meaning, and images.
